Safe Cosmetics Pledge
Indicates the manufacturer of this product has signed the Compact for Safe Cosmetics, pledging to meet or exceed the formulation standards and deadlines set by the European Union cosmetics directive to be free of chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects. Companies also pledge to implement substitution plans that replace hazardous materials with safer alternatives within three years and publicly report their progress in meeting these goals. Coming Clean Campaign Endorsement Status

Leaping Bunny Certified
Indicates that the manufacturer of this product has been certified as cruelty-free by The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC). CCIC's certification, indicated by the Leaping Bunny logo, provides "assurance that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers." To be certified, companies must agree to the Leaping Bunny Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals, a voluntary pledge that "cosmetic, personal care, and/or household product companies make to clear animal testing from all stages of product development. The company's ingredient suppliers make the same pledge and the result is a product guaranteed to be 100 percent free of new animal testing. Member of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)
Indicates the manufacturer of this product is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Planting of plantations of palm oil, which may be in as many as 1 in 10 cosmetics products, can result in significant deforestation of tropical rainforests and threatens the survival of endangered species such as the orangutan and Sumatran tiger. EPA Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative - Champions
Under the Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative (SDSI), EPA's Design for the Environment (DfE) Program recognizes environmental leaders who voluntarily commit to use safer surfactants in all their products. Safer surfactants break down quickly to non-polluting compounds and help protect aquatic life in both fresh and salt water. Nonylphenol ethoxylates (also known as NPEs) are an example of a surfactant class that does not meet the definition of a safer surfactant. The Design for the Environment Program has identified safer alternative surfactants through partnerships with industry and environmental advocates.
