Vegetarian, Mostly Non-MIneral Toothpaste
It appears that there are at least 10 web pages at Amazon.com featuring Weleda Plant Gel Toothpaste; some products differ in cost, others in ingredients. For example, product ingredients on this page include the following:
Glycerin, Water (Aqua), Hydrated Silica, Chamomile Recrutita (Matricaria) Extract, Krameria Triandra Root Extract, Commiphora Myrrha Extract, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Oil, Algin, Alcohol, Esculin, Limonene.
Another Weleda Plant Gel Toothpaste page lists products in a different oder, and its Silica is NOT hydrated:
Ingredients (INCI): Glycerin, Water (Aqua), Silica, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Krameria Triandra Root Extract, Commiphora Myrrha Extract, Algin, Alcohol, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Oil, Limonene, ((from natural essential oils)), (Esculin). 3.3 oz
What's commonto both is the absence of common personal cleansing agent Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (derived from Cocoanuts), artificial colors and flavors, sweeteners, the omnipresent whitening agents such as titanium dioxide, and other chemicals that are incomprehensible to most non-chemists.
I'm not sure how many people are seaching for a truly natural, non-mineral (excpet for the silisa--hydrated or not), herbal toothpaste, or even why this obscure object would be desired (note subtle punnage there). However, if you've been scouring local stores for one, your search is over. While there are no assurances that you'll have whiter teeth, neither will you be disappointed by broken promises. The taste is quite subtle with hints of chamomile and mint, but they're just perceptible. The main benefit of brushing, as I understand it, is the brushing itself, and Weleda supplies the lubricating, slightly sudsing properties that augments that action. Recommended for those who want a gentle, non-abrasive, and natural herbal toothpaste.Review from Amazon.com
