Actually works! (after a few weeks, I noticed a difference)

I had dandruff for years now and nothing seemed to work. I tried everything over the counter from head and shoulders, T gel, and stuff from whole foods market. I was so frustrated with constantly scratching and all the annoying flakes. I was going to get a prescription before I saw all the great reviews for this product on Amazon, so I decided to try it. I did a little research online and found that the ingredient is a fat soluble substance that gets absorbed your scalp and selectively inhibits the growth of the fungi that causes dandruff. So I knew this would take some time to work so I was patient and used it about every other day and lathered for about 2 minutes each time. The improvement was gradual. By the 6th week, it suddenly occurred to me that I had not felt itchy the whole day.. then I realized I had not felt itchy in the past week even while the humidity has been very low where I live. Its been a few weeks since then and I'll get the occasional itch and slight dryness, but its not extreme like it was before.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone. It has a clean soapy scent and lathers up a lot. I found that the fumes from this product irritated my eyes, so I just made sure to have my eyes closed the entire time that it was on my head. I follow it with John Masters Organics (anti dandruff shampoo with zinc) and either Redken's all soft conditioner or pantene pro v restorative conditioner. I know its the nizoral that is working for my dandruff and not the john masters organics because its something i've used before nizoral and it made my hair soft and smell good but didn't do much for the dandruff. The added bonus of using John masters organics is that its main ingredient is Aloe Vera gel, which as you may know, is clinically proven to help heal skin irritation or cuts (hospitals use aloe to treat burn victims all the time)... so while the nizoral works to block the fungi and dandruff, the aloe vera in the john masters helps sooth your broken and irritated skin.

    Great Product

Have to say so far that this is the best Anti-Dandruff producted I've used so far.

Most have reported that it takes about a week and I believe the bottle says to allow for two weeks but it seemed to start working for me after the first use.
I highly recommend that you at least try this. Also on the plus side it didn't thin my hair like H&S products.

If I have a one complaint it would be that it's more costly than anything i've personally tried but honestly you get what you pay for.

    Pro's: Works quickly, no itching

    Con's: Higher price than most

    It works!

I did not purchase this product via Amazon. I purchased it from CVS. However I felt compelled to write a review for others out there like me who needed reviews to know if Nizoral is worth a try or not.

I have dermatitis, eczema, dry scalp, etc...list continues. It is humiliating to be in public with dry flakes everywhere in my hair or head. My dermatologist prescribed different types of medications but none worked too well. I did not want to resort to using steroid shots to reduce inflammation on my head.

I tried Head & Shoulders, Neutrogena T-GEL, Jason Organics, Selson Blue, anything I thought possible. Then I heard about Nizoral. What is different about it is the type of ingredient: Ketoconazole. It is a synthetic antifungal drug. Read more about in Wikipedia.

It will be exactly 1 week today that I've used it. I noticed my head is no longer dried, itchy, or flakes falling. It controlled the inflammation on my head thus I do not shed hair as much.

For the amount of money it cost compared to other brands, I say try it!

Long time sufferer of seborrheic dermatitis

I've been suffering from severe seborrheic dermatitis of the face for years now. I got this product assuming that it wouldn't work for me just like everything else I've tried in the past, but I hoped for the best.

After just 3 uses the skin on my face is no longer flaky. I can now go out in public without being self conscious about my flaky skin. I would recommend Nizoral not just for your scalp but for your face too. It has been a savior for me.

Directions for those wondering how I've cured my seborrheic dermatitis.

Apply a lather to your face while showering. Wash the rest of your body while leaving the shampoo on your face to soak in (Anywhere between 5-10 minutes). Gently scrub your face with soft cloth or a sponge to clear the dead skin. After you get out make sure to apply some sort of moisturizing cream. I have a prescription for desonide 0.05% Lotion that works wonders. If you find that your moisturizer irritates your skin switch to something else until you find one that works for you, or go and see your dermatologist.

    Hope this review helps others!

    No changes!

I have been struggling with dandruff for years. After using Nizoral for about 6-7 weeks, I can't see any huge improvements, but only subtle reduction of dandruff. It may work miracles for you, but that wasn't the case for me.
